For the past 21.5 years, I have been afraid of heights. Everytime i went on a holiday overseas, amusement themeparks (where there are a lot of thrill rides) have never really been on my itinery. The only themeparks i have visited were disneyland, universal studios and ocean park. And when i was there, i didn't take any rides that involved free fall and 360 degree turns. Probably the most extreme i have gone to were The Viking and the horrible Panasonic indoor roller coaster at Escape. Man on man, life took a turn when i went to Cedarpoint. I don't know what had gotten into me... maybe it was becos i face the rides everyday.. maybe becos i see the americans go on those rides like its was nothing.... i took one ride, psycho-ed by my friends, and then many more came. I was beginning to enjoy the thrill of it.
My first ride: the Top Thrill Dragster.
Reaching a stratospheric 420 feet tall and topping out at an unheard of speed of 120 mph, this new steel screamer helped Cedar Point reclaim the title of owning the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the universe.
Riders begin their epic journey aboard this whopping 42-story screamer by securing themselves into ultra-cool trains that resemble top fuel dragsters. The train then moves into a "starting line" position, where it is launched forward, reaching 120 mph in approximately four seconds. The train then zooms straight up the 420-foot-tall hill on track that rotates 90 degrees, crests the coaster's apex and then free falls back to Earth. But hold on, this isn't your father's roller coaster. As the train races 400 feet to the ground, the track twists an unbelievable 270 degrees – what a rush! Riders then return to the station to begin regaling their friends with stories of the greatest ride of their lives.
Top Thrill Dragster was voted an impressive No. 10 in the 2006 Golden Ticket awards for the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category. Riders must be at least 52 inches tall to ride Top Thrill Dragster.
Maverick
Guests begin their adventurous journey on Maverick by boarding steam-era-styled coaster trains with an ultra-sleek profile that will carry them along the 4,450-foot-long course. Linear synchronous motors will propel the train to the top of a 105-foot-tall first hill. From there, it's not straight down – it's more than straight down! Maverick will take its passengers down to Earth at an astonishing 95-degree angle at speeds of up to 57 mph to within five feet above the ground! From there, the train will hug the terrain as it twists and banks around hairpin turns with quick but smooth changes in direction. Throughout the 2-minute, 30-second ride, passengers will also experience eight "airtime-filled hills," three inversions and a second launch through a dark tunnel that will leave them in awe as they reach speeds of 70 mph!
Millenium Force - 2nd best steel roller coaster in the world 2006
Termed a "giga-coaster" for its extreme height, this colossal coaster looms an incredible 310 feet above the ground and reaches a top speed of 93 mph! Millennium Force destroyed 10 world records when it debuted in the first year of the new millennium. In 2006, Millennium Force was voted No. 2 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a poll conducted by Amusement Today.Millennium Force takes its passengers over 6,595 feet of steel track that includes 310-, 169- and 182-foot-tall hills, two dark tunnels and two 122-degree overbanked turns.
Magnum XL-200 - No. 3 best steel roller coaster in the world 2006
Standing an amazing 205 feet above the Earth below and cruising at a top speed of 72 mph, this scream machine was the tallest and fastest roller coaster ever created when it debuted in 1989. As impressive as those statistics are, coaster enthusiasts will tell you the element that makes Magnum truly a coaster king is its "airtime!" That feeling of floating over each of the ride’s intense hills helps make Magnum one of the greatest coasters of all time.

Raptor - No. 11 best steel roller coaster in the world 2005
Guests ride in cars that are suspended from the track above. Specially designed seats allow passengers' legs to dangle, providing the sensation of flight. Aiding that is the fact that riders go upside down six amazing times! The highlight is a first-of-its-kind ?cobra-roll,? a thrilling element that flips riders over, spirals them upside down into a 180-degree roll and repeats the twisting motion in reverse. Looming 137 feet above the Main Midway and reaching a top speed of 57 mph, Raptor is one of the tallest and fastest inverted roller coasters in the world.
